The Utena Social Services Centre Long-Term Social Care Unit for Adults with Disabilities is a space where 20 residents with mental and/or complex disabilities receive comprehensive assistance focused on their individual needs and opportunities. The operation of the unit is ensured by a professional team: the chief social worker, the social worker, two employment specialists, a physiotherapist and individual care workers. They take care not only of the daily needs of the population, but also of their self-expression and integration.
The aim of this unit is to promote the independence of residents and restore relations with society by developing skills that allow them to feel more independent. Here, residents learn to plan their finances, shop, clean up their households, independently maintain residential premises and the environment, as well as participate in employment activities. An important part of the unit’s mission is integration into society and the development of opportunities in order to ensure a dignified and meaningful life for every person.
The unit also provides medical and social assistance that strengthens the physical and emotional state of the population. Employment professionals organise a variety of activities that encourage creativity and communication. Work skills classes and forms of therapy are supported, which contribute to the improvement of emotional well-being.
It is a place where individual opportunities are focused, complex assistance and a spirit of community are ensured, allowing each resident to feel significant.
