The Šilutė social care home unit in Saugos opened its doors in the spring of 2021, providing new opportunities for residents of the district to receive professional care and help closer to their homes. This institution was established in the premises of the former Saugai Children’s Care Home, which after the reorganization was adapted to the needs of seniors and adults with disabilities. There are cozy, modernly renovated premises that can accommodate 38 residents.
Care homes provide both long-term and short-term social care services, ensuring comprehensive care for those who have been found to be completely or partially independent. The services are intended not only for people who have reached an old-age pension, but also for people of working age with disabilities. Short-term care and “respite” services are also provided here, allowing relatives to take a short breath, knowing that their loved one will be in a safe and caring environment.
The staff of the Šilutė Social Care Home seeks to ensure a warm, communal atmosphere, where every resident would feel valued and cared for. A professional team of employees takes care not only of daily needs, but also tries to create conditions for employment, communication, and leisure activities.
This unit is an important step in strengthening the availability of social services in Šilutė district.
