Pagėgiai Social Care Home, located in a small town on the bank of the Nemunas, is a social and medical care institution that provides a wide range of assistance to the elderly and disabled. The institution was established in 1995 by the decision of the Šilutė District Municipality, and since 2000 it has belonged to the Pagėgiai Municipality. In 2006, the institution was reorganized into the Pagėgiai Supportive Treatment, Nursing and Elderly Care Home, and from 2024 it is officially called the Pagėgiai Social Care Home.
The institution consists of two blocks, between which there is a distance of 830 m. The first block provides non-stationary social services, such as short-term care and day care activities, while the second provides long-term inpatient care, supportive care and nursing services. The care home works according to a social work model, the services of which include information, mediation, consulting, as well as the organization of catering, provision of clothing, organization of transport and the implementation of socio-cultural activities.
Care homes also provide medical services that include supportive treatment, prevention, and medical education. In addition, religious services, occupational therapy, social skills support and various household services such as laundry, cleaning and disinfection are organized here.
The mission of the institution is to ensure long-term care for those who can no longer take care of themselves due to age or disability. The Pagėgiai Social Care Home seeks not only to provide safe and comfortable living conditions, but also to promote independence, community spirit and dignity of the residents.
