The Centre for Social Services of Gargždai City and Surrounding Neighbourhoods, established in September 2003, is an open and constantly improving institution, which seeks to ensure high-quality social assistance and provides a wide range of services that meet the social needs of the residents. The activities of the Centre are focused on strengthening the capacities of a person (family) in order to ensure their independence in solving social problems, maintaining social relations with society and overcoming social exclusion.
The institution provides a variety of services for different age groups and needs. Adults with disabilities and the elderly are offered a day social care and care service that helps to develop, maintain and restore social skills. The Children’s Day Centre takes care of children’s day care, seeks their social integration, develops communication and cooperation skills.
The unit of the care centre provides important assistance to foster parents (guardians), adoptive parents, guardians on duty and family members. The hostel unit provides temporary accommodation, while the Crisis Centre helps to cope with the difficult challenges of life by providing psychosocial support. Community children’s care homes offer short-term and long-term social care services, providing children with a stable and supportive shelter.
The centre, established by Klaipėda District Municipality, uses professional, financial and moral resources so that the residents of Gargždai city and surrounding wards can feel included, supported and free to create relationships in the community.
