The Svėdasai branch of the Anykščiai social care home, established on April 1, 1998, is a shelter for the elderly, seeking to satisfy their needs and provide dignified living conditions. It is located in a picturesque place in the town of Svėdasai near Lake Alaušas and St. Peter’s Cathedral. This unit provides long-term and short-term care for older people who need help due to old age or disability. The Svėdasai subdivision has 35 beds and thirteen living rooms – single, double, triple and quadruple – together with a rest and activity room, kitchen, veranda and sanitary facilities.
The unit provides a wide range of services, from accommodation and daily care to meeting special needs and promoting social integration. Residents of the care home are offered various ways of employment, such as handicrafts, sewing, creative activities, and daily training in independence skills. Health care is also taken, medical and psychological services and religious rites are organized. The aim is to create an environment where every resident would feel safe, cared for with dignity and could participate in community activities.
