Aknysta Social Care Home is a place filled with peace and history, located in the former Aknystai Manor, which is led by an alley of trees through the town of Debeikiai. Since 1538, a gift from Sigismund Augustus to the Smolensk nobleman Yuri Kopty, the manor has belonged to various noble families for many centuries, who contributed to its prosperity: a park was founded, a palace was built, and many outbuildings appeared. Throughout its long history, the manor has seen periods of prosperity and hardship – especially during the times of Tsarist Russia, when the owners of the manor took part in the uprising of 1863. Later, after the change of owners, part of the buildings were reconstructed and adapted for care homes.
In 1959, a social care home was established in Aknysti, where the first residents were brought from the Jagaudžiai retirement home. Now the people living here, including those who need special care, can enjoy not only a cozy refuge, but also the tranquility of the centennial park and the picturesque banks of the Aknysta River. The modern Aknysta care home is an example of how care, community spirit and respect for history can be combined with social assistance. With the advent of foreign sponsors, established branches allow to take greater care of the needs of each resident, promote their personality development and integration into society.
